PARAMEDICS
Paramedics are the auxiliary members of the Medice. They act as the arms and legs of the Medice and spend their time traveling The Tour to assist anyone who runs into trouble and needs medical attention. Most of the paramedics are medics, but there are a few healers in the ranks.
Typically paramedics are new medics and travel The Tour as a method for learning and for teaching other apprentice medics. Most medics are a bit older than the rest of the people on The Tour and there are few paramedics that are even older and prefer being paramedics so they can travel.
Since their most important assets are their hands (for surgery and healing) and no members of Medice carry weapons, their primary line of defense is a martial arts style similar to Capoeira. Because of this they all wear thick leather gloves (instead of the more common fingerless gloves worn by people on The Tour).
The common paramedic uniform is a double breasted white shirt that buttons up to the next. Along with gloves they wear utility belts that have multiple pouches and holder for medical supplies.
-First Response: Traveling alone, these members are mostly elven, half-elven or human energists as they need to have a lot of natural speed to be available for emergency situations. Typically they carry only a utility backpack to maximize speed.
-Healer: Healers may be of any race. They are typically weaker physically than most travelers (due to intensive use of their art), so they usually travel with another paramedic or a Partner.
-Partner: Basically assistants to paramedics, they mainly travel with Healers. They provide protection on The Tour or assist in any way that's needed. They also work as message carriers to areas that aren't part of the
-Herbalist: Specialists in herbal remedies, they typically travel with Surgeons as they work in unison. Herbalists are skilled in anesthesia, herbal remedies, and nutrition. So in addition to assisting surgeons they also spread information on health and nutrition, administer and distribute contraceptives, and train apprentice medics in small towns.
-Surgeon: They work in a partnership with Herbalists and specialize in surgery, acupuncture, and injury rehabilitation. They will also train apprentice medics.
MEDICS
Medics include First Response, Healers, Herbalists, Surgeons, Partners and Teachers
-Teachers: Basically experienced medics that prefer not to travel so they stay at their town/city/school of choice to teach apprentice medics. Sometimes they will travel to bring new information/techniques to smaller towns.
HEALERS
Healers are a very specific type of energist. They are only capable of using their own bodies as a source of their healing energy. Once they commence healing they build a rapport with the person they're healing so they are capable of using the other person's energy. However, usually if healing is needed the sick person does not have enough energy to spare for the healing process, so the healer must rely on their own energy. For this reason most healers don't have a lot of excess energy for other activities and end up living a lifestyle with little physical activity and a lot of food intake.
